Tribological Study of Chisel Knives in Sandy Soil

This paper presents the interaction system within mechanical soil processing process, consisting of two large elements, metal tool and soil. Due to main forces acting on chisel knives—friction impact with sandy soil—the wear these knives was determined. To determine wear, a stand used which allowed testing chisel-type in laboratory conditions by changing their functional parameters: working depth, angle work soil, speed, humidity granulation test environment. The present an application Archard-type law contact between knife (wet dry sand). theoretical model regarding Archard coefficient considered three forms surface damage (shake down, ratcheting micro-cutting). sand spherical rigid flat. experimental real steel different hardness operation under controlled granulation, humidity, attack angle, depth penetration speed sliding. results highlight behavior (Archard coefficient) wet sand.
